Just a quick web/email check before heading to Socorro today. Only about a week left in the higher elevations and its low temps and snow. I have about a 2000 foot drop today before going back up a little bit out of Socorro and then finally leveling out in Roswell.
I am going to do an accurate mileage count tonight but it looks like I have covered roughly 1950 miles (after today's 27) and have 1750 or so to go. That forecasts to finishing on 1/30/05 so I need to make up 3 days or about 100 miles over my last 50 days.
Only after crossing the Continental Divide a couple days ago have I started thinking about the completion of this journey. There is a small town there called Pie Town with their slogan "It's all downhill from here". I enjoyed some lunch and pie on National Pie Day there and met some great folks there.
Well, it's time to hit the road again. Partly cloudy and highs in the mid to upper 40s today. It's going to be a great day (like every other day) for a run!
